The GSM operator, the Indian unit of British telecom major Vodafone Plc, intends to complete the Mumbai circle rollout by March-end. All existing pre-paid, post-paid and Vodafone Red customers can move on to 4G plans at the same price as their existing 3G plans.
Vodafone, the leading telecommunication services provider in Mumbai with 8.6 million customers, will be the second telecom operator to enter Mumbai with 4G services. “Initial response fromcustomers who have experienced our 4G services in Kerala, Karnataka, Kolkata and Delhi & NCR has been positive and encouraging”, SunilSood, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Vodafone India said.
As with other locations in India, Mumbai subscribers will be able to get the 4G ready SIM card in exchange of their existing SIM card to graduate from 3G to 4G. Vodafone has already launched 4G in Kerala and Mysuru in Karnataka, Kolkata and Delhi.
Its 4G offering is built on the 1,800 MHz band which has better propagation capabilities compared to the 2,300 MHz on which Airtel and Reliance Jio will launch their services. It’ll begin rolling out its services at key business and residential corridors in the Western Suburbs and South Mumbai.
“The 4G network has the potential to revolutionise the mobile experience through powerful innovation that impacts how we work and live”.
