Trump emerged victorious in New Hampshire, routing his GOP rivals by almost 20 points.
Rubio’s polling definitely took a hit from his exchange with Christie on Saturday night. Steinem had said young women were drawn to Sanders because that was where the boys were.
So where do the other candidates go from here?
Backing from Mr. Coates, 40, who wrote the widely read “The Case for Reparations” in 2014, could bolster Mr. Sanders’s efforts to court black voters as the Democratic primary contest moves into more diverse primary states, where African-Americans make up an enormously important constituency. Mr Bush, moreover, has distinct advantages in the state: the backing of its senator Lindsey Graham, and support from his older brother George – whose campaign there in 2000 spread slanderous rumours about his opponent John McCain, who had routed him in New Hampshire. That may particularly be a powerful argument given Trump as the possible Republican nominee.
Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton square off Thursday night in Milwaukee in the next Democratic debate.
“For us, it’s now time to hit that next gear”, he said.
“People have every right to be angry but they’re also hungry, they’re hungry for solutions”, she said. He also writes and comments frequently on USA party politics and elections and how they shape and are shaped by America’s changing place in the world. And in January, his campaign outpaced the fundraising of Hillary Clinton for the first time during the 2016 election cycle.
In his victory speech, Trump said Sanders “wants to give away our country”.
“They’ve thrown everything but the kitchen sink at me”, Sanders told his supporters, “and I have the feeling that kitchen sink is coming pretty soon as well”. The Democrats’ New Hampshire victor, Bernie Sanders, had breakfast Wednesday in NY with the Rev. Al Sharpton, hoping to boost his appeal with minorities.
In the Democratic race, Nevada provides the next challenge, with Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders keen to carry on his momentum after a stunning victory over Mrs Clinton in New Hampshire. We’ll begin to find out in Nevada, the next stop for the Democrats, on February 20.
The race then proceeds to Super Tuesday, when a slew of contests take place on a single day and candidates are forced to take to the airwaves.
Cruz, the Iowa victor and a favorite of social conservatives, proved unable to win over New Hampshire’s more moderate brand of Republican. However, experts predicted that Trump would win in Iowa. The last remaining candidate, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, finished farther off the pace.
NEW HAMPSHIRE HANGOVER? Watch how the also-rans cope.
“We are going to make our country so strong”, Trump told a raucous crowd in Manchester, with typical bombast. He goes to SC with little organisation, not much money and the handicap of being the liberals’ favourite Republican.
The real estate billionaire reasserted his grip on the Republican race with a convincing New Hampshire victory.
“Young Marco Rubio is in trouble”, noted Republican strategist Alex Castellanos, a fellow Cuban-American who has been highly critical of Trump and Cruz and friendly to Rubio.
“Light overcame the darkness”, Kasich said.
Keep in mind that BOTH of these men were considered jokes when they announced their respective runs for the White House. Marco Rubio jostled for third place, while a disappointed New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie trailed behind.
He could only offer supporters a mea culpa.
