2nd pregnant Australian woman tests positive for Zika virus
The head of the CDC testified on Capitol Hill Thursday, along with other experts about what the continental United States can expect with the Zika virus and how to protect people. She declined to release any other details about the case, including where the woman had traveled, citing patient privacy.

The developments are the latest in an ongoing struggle with Zika in Brazil, which is at the center of an outbreak that has spread to more than 30 countries and has prompted the World Health Organization to declare a global emergency over possible links between the virus and birth defects.

The timeline is similar to that suggested by researchers elsewhere, many of whom say clinical availability of any Zika vaccine is still at least three years away.

Frieden said the agency has shipped 62,000 of those Zika tests for pregnant women to health departments and is working on more but “there may be a period of weeks or a couple of months where there aren’t enough tests for the women who want to have them done”.

Pregnant women are strongly encouraged to heed travel advisories and avoid countries where Zika is a problem.
