Premier League weekend preview

One of those defeats came last weekend but they haven’t lost successive home league games in over seven years.

The striker has been in scintillating form for Leicester City and has played a starring role as the Foxes sit top of the table after 25 games.

Alexis Sanchez is closing in on a new five-and-a-half year deal with Arsenal, according to the Metro. This team, which had 5,000 to 1 odds of winning Britain’s top flight at the beginning of the year, has the inside track to the title.

“It would be very easy for me to accept and say let’s see how far we can go but I am the first one to understand that football clubs should be competing for silver wear and to get into the Champions League one day”, he said.

Yet rather than be aggrieved that their hugely impressive season isn’t getting the attention it would in any other campaign, it could benefit Tottenham that their title chase is, to some degree, going under the radar.

Jamie Vardy is adamant Leicester City remain unfazed by the mounting pressure of the Premier League title race as the shock leaders prepare for a summit meeting with Arsenal on Sunday.

“Everyone has been telling us all along that Leicester haven’t got a chance, but they just keep on winning, so now we’ll see!” Man City’s chances lie in their training staff’s ability to get key pieces like David Silva, Kevin de Bruyne and Jesus Navas back on the field.

A victor in this match would certainly shift to being the favourite to win this season’s Premier League title.

This weekend could be pivotal, with the top four facing off. Leicester is away to Arsenal, and Spurs are at fourth-place City. Three straight losses have been endured, not to mention departures from the FA Cup and League Cup.

Because Liverpool, Chelsea, United will all be ahead of us.

Betfred boss Fred Done said the bookmaker stand to lose more than £1 million if Leicester pull off the most unlikely title win in English football history.

“Van Gaal is the manager of the team”. Since Claudio Ranieri became Leicester manager, he has helped Mahrez with his development and the Algerian has improved as an all-round player considering two years ago Mahrez was playing in the French second division.

It would be great for football if Leicester did win it. If I was a Spurs fan I would be really excited because not only do they look good but they have a good balance of defending and attacking.

It seems written in stone that longtime Premier League teams like Sunderland and more so Aston Villa will be relegated, barring a late-season surge, but who will take that third spot?

Meanwhile, Samir Nasri hopes to end his career at Manchester City despite the club replacing the injury-plagued midfielder with young striker Kelechi Iheanacho in their Champions League squad for the knockout rounds earlier this month.
