Christie exits the campaign trail

Trump said on “CBS This Morning” that he and Christie spoke after the New Hampshire primary Tuesday, in which Trump won a big victory.

Area voters overwhelmingly supported Trump as the Republican nominee, with most saying that the United States needs someone in the Oval Office who can create jobs.

Throughout the race, Christie stood out for his blunt statements and a seeming inability to sugarcoat his assessments of the competition – and by February, Marco Rubio was bearing the brunt of it.

But with a field filled with numerous other options, including current and former governors and senators, Christie never consolidated support, despite being praised by both fans and rivals as one of the Republican Party’s best communicators. The fact that Bush ended up finishing behind Cruz in relatively moderate New Hampshire is a telling sign of how weak the Bush candidacy actually is.

Christie was a favored candidate of Republican leaders in the days following his 2013 winning reelection bid.

But he said. “Politics is about timing and if we could do it all over again, you want to peak in late January, you don’t want to peak in December”.

“I thought Christie was dead in the water at the start from Bridgegate”, Stimson said.

One source noted that the New Jersey governor is a “political realist” and understood that not qualifying to appear in Saturday’s debate and the lack of money made it impossible to go forward.

A strong showing Tuesday would then open the doors to their extensive supporter and donor networks — a deep-pocketed group wary of sending a first-term senator like Rubio to the White House.

Jim Bognet, a former media consultant for Mitt Romney in 2012 and media consultant: “Without Trump in the race, he could have been the populist, anger-channeling, speak truth to power candidate, probably filling that role and leading that constituency better than anyone else”.

By mid-January, it all seemed to be working.

After his more than 20 point win, Sanders will get more attention from Democrats in the South.

But by Wednesday, it was becoming clear to the campaign that it had run out of steam.

“He grabbed me immediately”, Sacks said.

But the liabilities never dissipated.

Christie held a meeting with his campaign staff at 4 p.m. today to thank them and announce the news, according to a spokesperson for the campaign.

Failure to launch: Christie entered the race in June with a kickoff speech in the high school gym of his hometown, Livingston, New Jersey.
