Clinton has acknowledged she has “work to do” to introduce herself to young women and new voters. The Sanders campaign responded with a release to reporters that highlighted Clinton’s heavy support from the financial industry. He laid out some of Hillary Clinton’s goals, including those that resonate with the working- and middle-class voters in attendance: raising the minimum wage, job creation, voting rights protection, and providing affordable college tuition and health care. “I have talked to some of the young kids with tears rolling down their cheeks, (who) are scared to death that today they may or their parents may be deported”, Sanders said.
Both candidates portrayed themselves as the candidate most attuned to women’s concerns.
Attempting Thursday night to boost his own support from minorities, Sanders peppered his typically economic-focused rhetoric with calls to reform a “broken criminal justice system” that incarcerates a disproportionate number of minorities.
Clinton criticized what she said was “systemic racism” in education, housing and employment.
“Let’s level with the American people”. He called for demilitarizing police departments and said they need to look like the communities they serve.
After he implied Clinton’s super PAC does not allow her to remain independent from corporations who donate large sums of money to her campaign, Clinton said, “We are mixing apples and oranges”.
Clinton drew some criticism when she said during a debate last week that she was “very flattered when Henry Kissinger said I ran the State Department better than anybody had run it in a long time”.
She said she’d continue to make her case. “I will not take advice from Henry Kissinger”.
The former secretary of State rejected the premise of the question, saying she didn’t agree with the assessment that Obama had not been good for race relations.
On foreign policy, Sanders admitted that the former secretary of state had more experience dealing with foreign policy, however, judgment was more important pointing to the fact that despite Clinton’s experience she did vote in favor of the Iraq war in 2003 and thus failing to anticipate the consequences of such interventions.
Hillary Clinton – Clinton is as well-entrenched an establishment candidate as anyone in the 2016 presidential race.
And he charged Republicans with hypocrisy.
“This is not the first time he has criticised President Obama”, Clinton said.
His campaign says it expects his impassioned calls for raising the minimum wage, breaking up Wall Street banks, and overhauling the current campaign finance system to resonate in more diverse states as well as it did in Iowa and New Hampshire.
But also Thursday, The Washington Post revealed new details about a State Department investigation into Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state.
Clinton said she is proud that she has received 700,000 donations, the majority of them small contributions.

“He wrote a foreword for a book that basically argued voters should have buyer’s remorse when it comes to President Obama’s leadership”, Clinton said on stage in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. “They sets us apart from the Republican side”.
