The disciplinary committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday banned Pakistan umpire Asad Rauf after he was found guilty of corruption and misconduct.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday announced in a statement that it has imposed a five-year ban on Asad Rauf, a former umpire and a former First-Class cricketer from Pakistan.
The 59-year-old was a part of the 2013 Indian Premier League (IPL) scandal and the Mumbai Police named him as a “wanted accused” in their chargesheet. “I completed all my assignments and left India in fact one day after my assignments ended”, Rauf claimed.
Asad Rauf has been banned by the BCCI for his role in the 2013 spot-fixing incident under the counts of misdemeanour and corruption.
Rauf did not attend Friday’s closed-door disciplinary hearing at the Indian board’s Mumbai headquarters although he had earlier denied the charges against him in a written submission. He had been accused of leaving the country suddenly, without completion of IPL duties, placing bets in IPL matches, accepting gifts from strangers and passing match-related information to bookies, Vindoo Dara Singh, in particular. “After which I sent them my detailed statement”, Rauf said.
All three were given life bans by the BCCI.
“But I have consulted my lawyers and I am willing to fully cooperate with any inquiry by the ICC anti-corruption and security unit”, he said.

Asad Rauf was first worldwide appearance in 2000, after six years he was included in Elite Panel of Umpires by ICC, he has officiated 49 Tests, 98 ODIs and 23 T20 matches.
