Trump And Sanders Gear Up For Long 2016 Fight

“You can not beat Donald Trump coming from the left”, Cruz told reporters here before a rally.

Mathematically speaking, it’s extremely unlikely that any establishment Republican can win a primary while three of them split up the vote. He won every education group, albeit with a narrow margin among those with advanced college degrees. Trump’s tendency toward self-inflating exaggeration aside, his underperformance in Iowa had much to do with his decision to skip the seventh Republican debate less than a week prior, a move that may have done Rubio a favor. Ted Cruz, the third-place finisher.

It will be the first time that the ex-commander in chief campaigns with Jeb at a public event since the former governor of Florida launched his presidential bid last June. Marco Rubio are hanging on for dear life, but it’s still too early to count them out. His ability to dominate the media has been his greatest strength, but that’s more difficult now than it was before Iowa, and it will continue to get harder.

Ultimately, we won’t really know how Iowa voters’ choices fared until both parties’ nominees are decided. But I woke up this morning ready to keep fighting for the issues you and I believe in.

22 percent of those voters went for Donald Trump, but 21 percent went for John Kasich – giving Kasich the benefit of the late-breaking establishment vote that Rubio so desperately needed.

That has been fuelled by comments by former secretary of state Madeleine Albright, who said there was a special place in hell for women who did not support other women, and feminist author Gloria Steinham, who said young women were flocking to Mr Sanders because “that’s where the boys are”. Ms. Clinton, despite her broad support in the infrastructure of the Democratic Party, should be running scared. He did better among them, sure. Clinton also won Texas in 2008 against Obama. Is it instead about fear of national decline? They’ll now be under even more pressure to pick a horse while also facing the possibility of an attack from Trump (and his voters) if they oppose him publicly. He won 44 percent of those who think the next generation will do better than this one – better than his showing among voters overall.

Rubio said he’s confident he will win the Republican nomination and be back on the New Hampshire ballot in the general election. Co-opting him on immigration does not seem promising, given that he cleaned up among voters who don’t prioritize it. Saying he isn’t a real conservative may be important for conservatives, but won’t drive down his strong support among moderates. Polls show Rubio trailing Trump and Ted Cruz in SC.
