The Reserve Bank of India had rejected his application seeking clearance to open a business account in June 2007, Headley told the Mumbai Special TADA Court.

Pakistani-American terrorist David Coleman Headley today exposed how ISI and LeT majorly funded terror operations in India and financed him from time to time and that Pakistan native Tahawwur Rana visited Mumbai before the terror strikes.

“Major Iqbal expressed disapproval of certain areas I had recceed as targets”.

He had purchased four other books – “Royal Rajasthan”, “India’s Jewish Heritage”, “The Grand Trunk Road” and “Polo In India” – but the army book was of great interest to him, he said. “But, nobody should be targeted on the basis of their religion”, he said.

After successfully conducting the 26/11 attacks in 2008, Headley came back to India in March 2009 as directed by senior Al-Qaeda operative Ilyas Kashmiri.

Giving details of his funding, he said, “Before coming to India in September 2006, he received Dollars 25,000 from ISI’s Major Iqbal”. He also said that Major Iqbal of the ISI wanted him to recruit people from the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre to get information from there.

Immediately after Headley’s testimony, a battery of BJP leaders swung into action to attack Congress, claiming that its leaders dubbed Ishrat as a “martyr” only to “fix” Modi.

“I met Rajaram Rege (PRO of Uddhav Thackeray) inside Shiv Sena Bhavan in Dadar”.

“His confessions are all a pack of lies and fabricated statements”, Malik, who heads the Senate’s Standing Committee on Interior and Narcotics Control, said.

“I met Rahul Bhatt through Vilas at a body building competition”.

“This is Ajmal Kasab Rehmatullah Aliah”, Headley told the court.

However, in June 2013, an Intelligence Bureau report which appeared in the media told the PMO and the home ministry that the agency had enough evidence to prove that Ishrat was part of an LeT module which planned to kill Modi.

The LeT operative said Major Iqbal showed unhappiness over Mumbai Airport not being included among the targets.

Headley revealed that during his last visit to Mumbai in July 2008, prior to the 26/11 attacks, he had surveyed and videographed the Chabad House in south Mumbai.

“I don’t know who was staying there”.

The 26/11 mastermind and chief operational commander of LeT, Zakir-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, thought that the Gateway of India and the Naval Air Station would be good and safe landing points for the attackers but Headley opined otherwise.

Headley said that he and Muzammil had once visited Kashmir to fight against the Indian troops.

Activist Javed Anand, whose wife Teesta Setalvad is fighting for justice for the 2002 Gujarat riot victims, when contacted, said he “would not want to comment on Headley’s testimony about Ishrat Jahan as Teesta or I have not been involved with the case”.
