Bill Clinton to campaign for wife in swing state Ohio
“I would hope that we could all agree that we are sick and exhausted of seeing videos on television of unarmed people often African-Americans shot by police officers”, Sanders said. Sanders was furious: “Madam Secretary, that is a low blow”.

Obama remains popular with rank-and-file Democrats, including African-American voters in SC.
They seem to be less inclined than the previous generations to reward Clinton for her husband’s outreach and more drawn to the outspoken views of Sanders that include reducing the huge income inequality, crack downs on Wall Street and lowering the excessively high cost of attending college. She praised the president’s accomplishments while highlighting Sanders’s criticisms of him, noting in particular a blurb the Vermont senator lent to a book titled Buyer’s Remorse: How Obama let Progressives Down, by liberal talk-radio host Bill Press.
“We have got to stand up to the Trumps of the world, who are trying to divide us”, Sanders said. “When we talk about criminal justice reform we also have to talk about jobs, education, housing and other ways of helping communities of color”, she said. Bernie Sanders criticized her position on the issue. This was the case in her attacks on Sanders’ plan for a single-payer health care system, where Clinton stressed that the “focus should be on expanding coverage and care to those who still lack it, rather than starting from scratch and overhauling the entirety of the system”.
“We should be deporting criminals, not hardworking immigrant families who do the very best they can”, Clinton said.
THURSDAY NIGHT’S PBS-fest wasn’t a night of political pyrotechnics, but a good solid exchange that showed the strengths and weaknesses of both candidates.
Mrs Clinton, who has eagerly embracedMr Obama’s legacy, said Mr Sanders had called Mr Obama weak and a disappointment, and “that goes further than saying we have our disagreements”.
After a sweeping loss in the New Hampshire primary earlier this week, the former Secretary of State aimed to stop the bleeding.
When Clinton was asked what her proposals would cost, she priced them at about $100 billion a year, all of which she said were paid for by tax increases.
“If we were to stop that tomorrow, we would still have the indifference, the negligence that we saw in Flint”, Clinton said.
Sanders didn’t put a price on his policies, but neither did he shy away from the notion that he wants to expand the size of government.
Much of the punditry class gave Clinton the style points for the strategic use of her time to hit points likely to resonate with voters in the upcoming primary states. On the other hand, Phillips says that Clinton offered specific answers to race-related questions. But undecided caucusgoers and those who might change their mind say recent scandals involving Clinton make them significantly less likely to support her. I don’t think it is.
