Vipers 1 Enyimba 0 — CAF Champions League

Federation Cup champions, Akwa United and Nasarawa United play in the Caf Confederation Cup preliminary round against Vita Club Mokanda and Generation Foot respectively while Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, Enyimba, face Ugandan champions, Vipers SC and Wolves play hosts to CS de Praia Cruz.

The Nigerian champions will be the guests of East African side, formerly known as Bunamwaya Sports Club at the 5000-seat Buikwe Bunamwaya Stadium, Wakiso Town.

The People’s Elephant welcome Vipers in the return leg which they need to win by more than one goal (if away goals are avoided) to qualify for the first round of the competition.

“We’ve prepared well for this competition”. The team are ready.

This will be the first time they will represent the country on the continent after they pulled out of the 2010 Champions League, citing financial constraints.

“It’s a CAF Champions League game and it’s big, but I believe by God’s grace we would come out with a result that will make everyone happy”, he told the club’s website.

However, they crashed out in the first round of the competition in 2014. Given the time scale, we prepared as best as we could for the game.
