UAE, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain to support coalition’s ground operation in Syria
After Saudi Arabia’s declaration, neighbouring United Arab Emirates said it is ready to send its own ground troops.

Speaking after a meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry, Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said any operation would be US-led but that Saudi Arabia would play a leading role.
“We are talking about troops on the ground that will lead the way…that will train, that will support and so forth”.
He says that the Saudi Kingdom is prepared to participate in any ground operation in Syria that is agreed upon by the (U.S.-led) anti-Islamic State coalition.
“Any ground intervention in Syria, without the consent of the Syrian government, will be considered an aggression that should be resisted by every Syrian citizen”, Syria’s Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem said on Saturday.
Al-Jubeir said that the details of Saudi Arabia’s participation in Syria are being discussed by specialists.
“They are overstretched. But in principle I think they will not hesitate to send a certain number of their fighters to fight in Syria”, Alani said, adding that this would probably include Saudi special forces.
He says that logic would preclude any (Saudi) ground intervention in Syria, but that the folly of the Saudi regime means that nothing can be excluded. The move comes after a similar pledge from neighboring Saudi Arabia, Reports DW. “If they do, they will inflict a coup de grace on themselves”, he said, according to Fars news agency, a media outlet close to the Guards. For instance, Saudi officials had said they would help marshal some Muslim countries to join in the fight, and to ensure that Iraqi and Syrian populations were able to prevent a reemergence of the military group later, Carter said.
However, Bahrain does not wish to be part of a ground operation in Syria:”We take great interest in the stability of the brother nation [of Syria] and the expulsion of terrorists from its land”.
The U.S. has been more welcoming to Saudi Arabia’s intended ground troop support.
