Man accused of throwing alligator through drive-thru window

James P. Ross, a professor emeritus at the University of Florida’s Department of Wildlife Ecology and Conservation, said a 3.5-foot alligator likely would weigh about 20 to 30 pounds, and its hard body could deliver quite a jolt if it struck someone.

A man has been charged in Florida after allegedly throwing an alligator into a fast food restaurant.

Though the incident happened on October 11, 2015, James was only taken into custody on Monday, according to online booking records for the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

The alligator was released into a nearby canal. The opinions expressed here are very much those of the Minister.

Florida Fish and Wildlife officials tracked him down using a credit card receipt and now he faces several charges. He was released on Tuesday with a bail set at $6,000, according to WPTV.

James says he and his friends picked up the gator from the side of the road and thought it would be amusing to play a joke on their friend who was working at the restaurant.

Mr James was charged with assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.

“It was just a stupid prank that he did that’s now turning into this; it’s stupid”, his mother told WPTV.

“We were just like fishing, hanging out and we just stumbled upon an alligator”, James said. The mother said her son is a “prankster” and thinks things like this are “funny”. Perhaps the biggest concern would be infection if a bite went untreated, he said. No one answered the door at homes listed to the James family.
