In total, at least three women in the US have been infected with Zika after returning from overseas with the virus. It normally takes seven days for the virus to set in, but the patient in question was diagnosed within six days of catching the virus.

As a precautionary measure, some national governments may make public health and travel recommendations to their own populations, based on their assessment of the available evidence and local risk factors.
Around 220,000 soldiers were deployed across Brazil on Saturday in a massive campaign to raise awareness of the virus and offer advice on how to eliminate the Aedes aegypti mosquito that spreads it. When symptoms occur, they are often mild, lasting from several days to a week, and include fever, rash, joint and muscle pain, conjunctivitis (red eyes), and headache.
The dangers of the Zika virus is scaring people in Alabama.
“There is a major concern in my country over what has happened with Zika in Colombia and Latin America”.
The warning comes one day after Maryland health officials announce its first case of the mosquito-borne illness. These disorders are microcephaly, which leads to shrunken heads and brain damage in babies, and Guillain-Barré syndrome, which causes the immune system to attack the nervous system and leads to temporary paralysis and sometimes death. And it has also stated there “should be no restrictions on travel or trade with countries, areas and/or territories with Zika virus transmission”, tourists who are pregnant and who wish to alter their travel arrangements should be able to do so for free if they act quickly.
“I think if you’re a pregnant woman you really have to think very seriously about if the travel is necessary”, she said.
For the first time, the World Health Organization is advising pregnant women to consult their doctors before traveling to places with Zika outbreaks and consider delaying travel.
In Alabama, there has been one confirmed case, but experts insist there is no reason for Alabamians to worry about the virus.
On Thursday authorities reported a third adult death in Brazil with possible links to Zika: a 20-year-old woman who died last April in Rio Grande do Norte state after being hospitalized with a severe respiratory problems. They recently requested for emergency funding from Congress to fight the virus.
“The war depends on us”, said Rousseff, accompanied by officials, health workers and a swarm of journalists.

Maryland has submitted 17 samples to the CDC. “These are all things that need to be carefully examined in natural history and case-control studies”, he said.
