So Trinidad, 34, turned to Reddit for answers. On top of that, she hadn’t burned any extra calories.

“Has she experienced anything really stressful in the last few days or is it a possibility she is pregnant”, asked ThatwasunpleasantCharge.

Trinidad said his wife’s heart rate was above 100 beats per minute for a majority of the day and indicated that she was burning fat for an unprecedented 10 hours straight.

“I just wanted to say this is indeed real”, Trinidad wrote on the Reddit Fitbit thread. During her little experiment the device recorded everything from beginning to end, though the data she shared included only eight minutes of active sex. This would make sense, since Trinidad told BBC Radio 5 he and his wife were actively trying to make a baby and it would account for the elevated heart rate.

Minkin adds that large jumps in heart rate are possible for women who are expecting, but it does not usually occur until later on in the pregnancy.

“We’re happy, the grandparents are very happy”, Trinidad said.

Christine Zirafi, Director of the Women’s Cardiovascular Center at University Hospitals Case Medical Center’s Harrington Heart and Vascular Institute tells ABC News that an elevated heart rate can be a sign of pregnancy, and is not uncommon. That’s the time that the couple, David and Ivonne, started to entertain the fact that his wife might actually be pregnant. We’ll definitely keep tabs on both pages as we congratulate the couple and hope they have a safe and healthy pregnancy and delivery.

Though Fitbit’s uses may seem limited to these parameters, some users are finding their Fitbit can serve as more than just a fitness tracker.

We already know that Fitbit can track one’s physical activity but recently it also served as an obscure pregnancy test
