The nation’s best runners hit the pavement in Los Angeles on Saturday at the U.S. Olympic Team Marathon Trials for a chance to bid a spot in the 2016 Summer Games.

Many runners chose a small community race to dip their toes into marathon running.

The men’s and women’s U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials are set to air live for the first time ever. He had previously said he expected to be slower because of the heat. “My wife didn’t enjoy it as much as I did!”

This will be his first Olympics.

Eggleston, 31, has unobtrusively (“I keep pretty quiet and don’t share a lot of what I do”) joined the top five or six in contention for the three qualifying spots Saturday.

The opening ceremonies are scheduled for 9:15 a.m. Saturday. “I can get out there and grind people down and, hopefully, in the back half of the race, some of those people that maybe went out too fast start coming back to me and I can use my strength to my advantage at the end”.

Davidson will make his marathon debut Saturday. Buena High and Moorpark College product Isidore Herrera qualified with his performance at the Santa to the Sea Half Marathon. Unfortunately, my sentimental pick, Deena Kastor dropped out of the trials early this week with an injury.

Meb Keflezighi finished second about a minute later and Jared Ward finished third. The Olympian has been training in San Diego for his fourth round at the games. On the track, Lubieniecki was a two-time All-American in the 1,500 meters.

The former Duluth East star was 11th in the Olympic marathon in London in 2012 (2:26:07).

Davidson, 24, won the 10K title at the Big West Conference Championships. Wow I’ve really got some soul searching to do.

“The thing with Scott and Phil”, Rubio said, “they both know how to compete”.

Frias was teammates with Herrera at Buena High, and remain close friends with him. I stayed at home training in Eugene, Oregon, and turned the thermostat up to 80. “I was cramping hard but you fight for every step”. Here are the TV schedule, results link, runners to watch, and more. Three hundred and seventy-three runners will loop the course four times.

“Part of running well is being mentally happy, ” Cherry said. “I love returning to Malibu State Park, Cheeseboro Canyon, Paramount Ranch and Sycamore Canyon”.

“Usually (preparation for) a marathon is a 12-week process for me”, she said.

Kastor, the president of the Mammoth Track Club, has moved into an ambassador role for distance running.

“I know what she’s made of”, Cragg said.

Cherry, 30, who lives in Oakland, California, said he’s found balance between work and training.

Yet, here is Ritzenhein, the Rockford native who turned 33 in December, ready to push the pace again – and prolong his remarkable career – as one of the favorites at this weekend’s U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials. She gave birth to twins past year. Ward is coached by two-time Olympic marathoner Ed Eyestone. But, as Paulsen said, anything can happen along those 26.2 miles. “But I’ve done a couple of workouts that would indicate I can put up a respectable time”.

Can they make it to Rio?

“This is kind of my time to come out and beat some people I shouldn’t beat, PR, not selling yourself short going in defeated already, but just knowing your place and knowing to execute a plan”, Weiss said.

'I need to trust my instincts'
