By serving hotdogs in all 7,100 USA stores, Burger King pits itself directly against Sonic.

The Times noted that Burger King is partially owned by a private equity group that also partly owns Kraft Heinz, a company that produces numerous condiments people will be using with the new item.

The Chilli Cheese Grilled Dog is less of a delight.

Burger King will be adding two varieties of hot dogs to its menu starting February 23. “It’s that obvious; it’s right in front of us”, said Macedo. Alex Macedo, president of Burger King North America, said that the hot dogs resulted in increased sales at the locations where they were tested, but he wouldn’t give specifics.

The 100 percent beef hotdogs are flamed-grilled just like the Whopper burgers, according to reports.

Would you eat a hot dog from Burger King? The company isn’t going at it alone though. Not making the cut for the national debut was the .49 corn dog.

Deciding how to dress the hot dogs proved a thorny problem. During the testing, the company discovered that “the average check with a hot dog was higher than the average check without a hot dog”, Macedo says.

The classic hot dog will have relish, chopped onions, ketchup and yellow mustard. Teams in Burger King outlets have been learning how to assemble the dogs.

At risk of sounding like a glutton, one hot dog is simply not enough to fill me up. Macedo said the line will get “the biggest [marketing] push we’ve had at least in the five years I’ve been here”. “Some guests would say they loved our hot dogs, and we didn’t even have hot dogs”, he told the news source. In less than a year, they had failed.
