Mayor urges ‘extreme precautions’ as cold weather hits NYC
“Disturbances rotating through the upper low will reinforce the cold air mass, significantly over the weekend and also enhance snowfall at times”, according to a forecast published by the National Weather Service’s Blacksburg, VA, office. In Wisconsin and Minnesota, there is a chance for wind chills as low minus 30 degrees below zero.

Timing…the worst of the wind chills will occur Saturday night into Sunday morning. The National Weather Service predicts temperatures well below freezing on Saturday for NY.
Bundle up, East Coasters and Midwesterners: Dangerous wind chills are headed your way this weekend, as 19 states – from North Dakota to North Carolina – are under a wind chill warning. Find lehighvalleylive.com on Facebook. The heaviest snow will likely fall from Tennessee to the interior Northeast, meteorologists say, especially near the eastern Great Lakes and higher elevations of the Appalachians.
Friday night: Snow bands expected to move into the Southern Tier after 7 p.m. Snowfall will taper off elsewhere.
Saturday: A slight chance of snow showers.
Wind chill is often referred to as the “feels like” temperature during the winter months. The temps begin to edge back up into the mid 20s on Monday and by Tuesday we’ll be in the mid-40s.
It’s going to be a chilly Valentine’s day, whether you’ve got someone to cuddle up to or not. Clouds will increase after lunchtime with light snow likely after 9pm Saturday night.
This bone-chilling cold weather comes a little more than two weeks after a massive winter storm pummeled NY and the Mid-Atlantic states with several feet of snow. Precautionary/preparedness actions… A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds are forecast to be 31 to 39 miles per hour or gusts will range between 46 and 57 miles per hour.

Snow should break out across the Hudson Valley sometime Monday – but whether it will start in the late morning or hold till the evening is uncertain.
