Sir Alex Ferguson rates Pochettino ‘best in Premier League’

Tottenham have conceded a league-low one goal from outside the box in the Premier League in 2015-16.

As well as huge talent, he has a whole load of time on his side.

This alone offers the coach who finally ends this barren run the potential to achieve a true moment of history.

More than this, though, any such success would be more clearly defined as the result of his work and his principles than it might elsewhere; as a triumph for the clarity, the goal, the bravery and the patience of his methods, which are so apparent already in the way he has the team playing this season.

With nearly £150 million (Dh797.8) spent on players such as Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne, Nicolas Otamendi and Fabian Delph last summer, it is not unreasonable to expect them to be in a stronger position than they presently are.

Second-place Spurs are a point ahead of Manchester City going into Sunday’s crunch clash, and key to a fifth successive league victory for the 23-year-old Wimmer will be stopping Aguero, who has scored seven goals in his last five appearances, and boasts 18 in 25 outings this term. Dropping one game isn’t the end-all be-all for Spurs’ season.

They have some talented players, with a good spine to their team and are in great form, led by a very good manager; so maybe, just maybe, this could be the season that Tottenham Hotspur actually do it.

While it looks likely the title will be contested by the current top four, Manchester United are lurking in fifth place, six behind City, and are still eyeing a Champions League spot. People used to like watching us play. This would not be the case at, say, Chelsea.

Among the other notable stats, ten of Aguero’s 14 goals have come at the Etihad, while eight of Kane’s 15 have been scored away from White Hart Lane.

“We’ll be doing everything we can to try to make it happen, but we’re conscious that as we advance in each tournament, the harder it gets”.

Tottenham have wiped of that inconsistency that has tainted their game for many years now and developed into a team challenging for the title.

For Wenger, there is a contrasting danger that he will be made to look a stubborn and out-of-touch OAP if Arsenal don’t finish first.

Aguero always bears significant goalscoring responsibility, but even more so with City’s injuries restricting their attacking options.

You do not have to spend much time around Pochettino to see the tactile, arm around the shoulder, nearly fatherly body language between him and his group.
