On January 5, Governor Rick Snyder declared a state of emergency and then made a phone call to the Michigan National Guard to distribute water filters and bottled waters in Flint.

But people in Flint still feel disillusioned, and it’s hard to see how that gets fixed. “We’ve got some big things that we’ve got to do”, he said, “but because we’ve taken care of our finances, and done a better job with budgeting over the last four or five years, we can take on the big things and get ’em done”. But it makes me sad that the people we trusted failed us. “And we truly believe that children in Flint matter”. They now are based in Detroit, Flint, Pontiac and Saginaw.

The relationship between Flintstones and their government is an especially acute case of what’s happening all over the country.
