Death of officer, 2nd killed in line of duty, shakes Fargo
He was just an all-around great guy. He was serving a “no-knock” warrant, when the suspect ran and opened fire, striking the 25-year veteran.

In June, a man was shot and wounded by a Fargo police officer after he fired a gun at officers during a robbery at the Howard Johnson Inn.
Separate court documents show that Schumacher was convicted of disorderly conduct in January 2013.
In a press conference at 7:30 a.m., Todd confirmed that the suspected shooter has died, either from gunfire from police or by suicide. Police chief Dave Todd says that Officer Jason Moszer will not survive his wounds. He died Thursday, the first Fargo police officer killed in the line of duty since 1882 in the city of about 155,000. A standoff ensued overnight and when the firing stopped, police discovered Schumacher dead inside the home.
“Right now my job as the chief is to take care of our officer’s family and to take care of my officers”, Todd said.
Police warned that the father of two wasn’t expected to survive. He served a year of probation. With no issued lantern, Alderman mistook a neighboring home for the suspect’s residence in the dark. They loved working with him. “We are all a tight knit family, when one of our people goes down it hits us hard at home”, says Wiseman. It was unclear Thursday whether or not Schumacher had legally acquired the firearms he used in his standoff with police.
In September, a police officer shot and wounded a man who pointed a BB gun at the officer following a auto chase involving a stolen vehicle.
Todd said he was confident that Schumacher meant to shoot at officers.
The standoff began following a domestic violence report.
Moszer died at about 12:45 p.m. Thursday, police said.
Police did door-to-door checks on nearby houses and don’t believe anyone else is injured, Anderson said.
Moszer was among the officers who initially responded to the scene, near downtown.
A resident in the area reported seeing an officer lying on the ground by a squad auto, and notified dispatch. The caller and his mother were able to escape the home unharmed, Anderson said. An emotional Todd said Moszer is in a hospital and that his family is there “saying goodbye to him”.
A North Dakota police officer died Thursday after being hit by a gunshot that authorities suspect was sacked by a man later found dead in the home where the officer had responded to a domestic disturbance call.
Anderson says the suspect fired multiple rounds from inside the home and struck Moszer.
Moszer had been with the force for six years and had a Silver Star commendation, Mayor Tim Mahoney said in a statement.
The standoff is ongoing.

Police said authorities tried to communicate with the suspect through negotiators.
