Pulwama: The residents of Kakapora area in Pulwama district of south Kashmir have started gathering for funerals of the two civilians who were killed in police firing on Sunday.

“Some more stone throwers received bullet injuries in the cross fire”.
The locals staged protest demonstration while the security forces operation against the militants was going on.
Some people from the neighbouring Lalhar village indulged in heavy stone pelting at the security forces who had cordoned off the area during the gunfight.
The civilians were protesting in Pulwama district, southeast of Srinagar, over a nearby gun battle in which a local pro-independence militant was killed. Police fired at the crowd, killing two and injuring over 10. Restrictions on separatist leaders has been imposed to maintain law and order, official sources said. Tens of thousands of Kashmiris have reportedly been killed in the violence, majority by Indian forces.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, while terming the killings as “highly unfortunate and unjustified”, said the forces in Kashmir have become trigger-happy.
Condemning the killing of two civilians, including a girl, Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Geelani called for a statewide shutdown tomorrow, a spokesman of the Hurriyat said.
“Around seven other people are reported to have sustained gunshot wounds and other injuries”.
The injured civilian was shifted to a hospital where doctors said his condition was out of danger. Senior civil and police officers rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.

Lt. Gen. Dua after paying floral tributes to the slain jawans also said that it was being ascertained whether the group of militants had infiltrated from across the Line or Control (LoC) recently or were active in the area for some time.
