Today at Big 12 Media Days, commissioner Bob Bowlsby said a lot of things.

“We’ve been historically bad the last two years at that position with turnovers”, Kingsbury said.

Patterson, sporting a shiny conference title ring on his right hand, took the stage Monday at Big 12 media days and reinforced the message by which his preseason Big 12 favorites plan to live this season. “As far as I can tell, I think he’s handling it pretty decently, keeping it in perspective”.

Baylor, part of Big 12 football media days Tuesday, got the other 10 votes.

Bowlsby said the Big 12′s system works fine and it won’t see any major expansion anytime soon, via Yahoo Sports. One says people will intentionally leave Memphis to travel to Tennessee games. “We need to be in a constant improvement mode. So we have got to play better on the road, especially on offense than we did a year ago, especially in league play”. “I don’t think that we’re going to find that this is a disadvantage”.

“We’re choosing to manage it instead of prohibit it”, Bowlsby said.

“We’ve been fortunate to win two conference championships; but, aside from that, we have four divisional championship trophies”.

Later, Bowlsby said that he’s constantly bombarded by potential pitches from expansion candidates in all forms.

“It is my understanding this present day that nearly all of our presidents and chancellors believe 10 is the appropriate quantity for us”, Bowlsby stated.

Senior Derrick Kindred is the most experienced member of the secondary, notching 80 tackles last season, third-best on the team. A few coaches were asked about this following Bowlsby, and they indicated it doesn’t hurt them too much. “It ought to always be our priority”.

With membership at 10 teams, the league now falls short of the NCAA’s championship game minimums of 12 teams and two six-team divisions.

“What was determined is that our guys aren’t using (all three contact days) anyway, ” he said.

“We believe it’s the right step”, he told the media on Monday, “And we hope it will become the national rule”. “Even if it doesn’t, we think that that’s the right way to conduct our practices. That’s our rule moving forward”.

Coaches widely said on Day 1 that this shouldn’t affect anything, as they’ve been scheduling practices like that for years. He said it was more a case of perfection and execution than added schemes.

And it’s still more contact than players experience at the professional level. On the plus side, they’ll build around a core of veterans like McFarland who understand the aspiration of “holding teams to zero points every time we play”. But their breakthrough last season lacked a knockout punch, as both were on the outside looking in when the inaugural CFP kicked off.
