Leicester’s lead cut to 2 points after 2-1 loss at Arsenal

But substitute Theo Walcott levelled in the second half, after Leicester right-back Danny Simpson had been sent off, before fellow replacement Danny Welbeck grabbed the victor in the 95 minute.

Arsenal could have scored in the first minute had Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain shot instead of crossing but the Foxes offered a reminder of their threat on the counter when Vardy’s header forced a save from Petr Cech.

Welbeck, returning for the first time from a 10-month layoff for injury, came off the bench in the 83rd minute and headed in Mesut Ozil’s free kick 12 minutes later. We took all the risks to win it. We knew a draw was not good enough.

Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen, left, celebrates with Harry Kane after scoring his side’s second goal during the English Premier League soccer match between Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur’s at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, England, Sunday Feb. 14, 2016.

Speaking on Sky Sports after Sunday’s game, Henry said: “The game at Old Trafford is going to be massive”. If the League’s top scorer can sink Arsenal, Leicester will nudge eight points ahead of their competition. “We play with all our strength, the opposition play with their strength and if we lose, then go on to the next game”.

Leicester had already been bruised after Danny Simpson was dismissed for two bookable offences in the 53rd minute, reducing the team to ten men. They scored with the last chance – they were smarter than us and that is football. We managed to break them down and create chances.

He added: “We want to fight match after match. He worked extremely hard [to come back]”.

“In the last two days he was convincing in training”. “We made only six but I said “Okay, see you next Monday”. But in the last two training sessins he was very strong and I decided just in the end to include him in the squad.

“But everybody is extremely happy for him, because he has been out for 10 months, that is an eternity for a player”. We tried to counter-attack and we controlled the match very well. And one minute later we were 1-0 down from a penalty that for me was not obvious at all.

Claudio Ranieri felt that the red card was the turning point in the game, telling Dave that “if it stays 11 vs. 11 we score again, because Arsenal were so nervous and we can score again in the counterattack”.
