Aam Aadmi Party Sees 275 Per Cent Hike In Its Donations
While Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) acquired a complete of Rs 437.35 crores as donations throughout FY 2014-15, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) registered complete donations throughout FY 2013-14 and 2014-15 of Rs forty four.seventy one crores, a report stated.

It was non resident Indians who instead topped AAP’s list of donors, contributing nearly 25% of the Rs 44.71 crores received during 2013-14 and 2014-15.
“BSP declared that the party did not receive any donations above Rs 20,000 during FY 2014-15, as it has been declaring for the past 10 years”, the ADR and National Election Watch noted.
As the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government plans to bring back the much-hyped “odd-even” formula for the second season, the AAP government has chose to reach out to the people to seek opinions.
“Section 29C of the Representation of People Act, 1951 says that political parties are required to submit contribution details received in excess of Rs 20,000 from any person or a company, if they wish to enjoy 100 per cent tax exemption”. The report also claims that AAP was the only state party to see such a huge hike in the previous financial year. National Secretary of the AAP Pankaj Gupta, who is in charge of funds, said, “It is possible that in some cases, PAN details or addresses of the donors are not mentioned, and that is because in several instances, donors just leave a cheque for us without mentioning their details”.
AAP in its submission to the Election Commission has also provided details of donations below Rs 20,000.
While making a declaration of donations to the EC, NCP announced the highest increase of 177 per cent from Rs 14.02 crores in FY 2013-14 to Rs 38.82 crores in FY 2014-15.

But the AAP in its donation report for 2014-15 has given details of the donations received below Rs. 20,000 too. The sum is significant as ADR’s analysis shows that only 7.5 percent of total donations received by all national parties collectively are from individual donors.
