Rated X-FORCE Movie? It Could Happen
The opening weekend from “Deadpool” was the biggest ever for an R-rated (or the equivalent) movie in 11 markets, including the Philippines ($2.8 million), Singapore ($1.7 million) and Central America ($1.3 million).

“Deadpool” comes from a embattled genre: R-rated comic book films are rare, and R-rated comic book films that have a pulse in theaters are unheard of. “About 6 weeks ago, I traveled to Edmonton Alberta to show Connor the movie at his hospital…Connor’s the funniest, potty-mouthed Canadian mercenary I’ve ever met”, Reynolds tweeted. “On paper, a studio would not release this movie at this time but the R-rating worked in its favor and somehow made it more appealing”. It has already become massively profitable for Fox, which spent a relatively modest $58 million on its production budget.
Deadpool wants you…to see his movie.
The film, starring Ryan Reynolds, follows the title character anti-hero as he hunts down the man that almost destroyed his life.
That puts it ahead of Man of Steel, all of Fox’s other X-movies, most Marvel movies that aren’t Avengers, every Harry Potter except the last one, and the Spider-Man record that kind of kicked off the whole superhero movie record-setting pissing contest in the first place.
Deadpool laid to waste the other major film openings, which included Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson’s Zoolander 2 and How To Be Single. Industry predictor said it was on track to turn in a 150 million dollars four-day total.
Look for Deadpool to continue his reign as box office king as audiences will take to his sloppy seconds this weekend.
“Deadpool” more than doubled last week’s forecasts that ranged between $60 million and $70 million for the Friday-Monday period.

How to Be Single took third with $18.8 million. The 3D family-friendly animated film has grossed 93.9 million dollars and it is projected to pass the 100 million dollars mark at the end of the four-day weekend. A24’s The Witch is a must-see if you prefer your horror with ample amounts of dread and atmosphere, not cheap scares or gore.
