Johnny Depp vows to explode heads at Grammys with Hollywood Vampires
I had never done a covers album, and I said, ‘Why don’t we pay tribute to our dead, drunk friends?’ They would have gotten the joke – trust me. Lemmy Kilmister was rock and roll.

Some appeared genuinely horrified to see Depp – once known as one of the effortlessly cool actors of Hollywood – vamping on stage with his band, mid-life crisis-style.
The band was introduced by Foo Fighters frontman David Grohl during the awards show after the singer dedicated much of his speech to Kilmister. As Lemmy taught us in “Ace of Spades, ‘ the pleasure is to play. I’d like to thank Lemmy and the late Phil “Philthy Animal” Taylor for their music and everything it meant for Motorhead”.
The Grammys marked the group’s television debut, which included performances of their song “As Bad as I Am” and Motorhead’s “Ace of Spades”.
Tasteful cuts to a shot of a guitar amp with Lemmy’s trademark sculpin hat atop it and his bass leaning against it were also a highlight.
The supergroup, which features Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp, Joe Perry and Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan, among others, will play the Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York – about four hours north of New York City – on May 24th. Rock music is his first love. And Motorhead have a history with the Grammys, as the band received a Best Metal Performance Grammy in 2005 for their performance of “Whiplash” on the Metallic Attack: The Ultimate Tribute disc saluting Metallica.

The Hollywood Vampires was a drinking club at the Rainbow [Bar & Grill] in Los Angeles, and it was the guys we are honoring: Harry Nilsson, John Lennon, Keith Moon, plus me, Mickey Dolenz from The Monkees and Bernie Taupin.
