Grammys featured nearly as many tributes as new music
Everyone was wondering if anyone at the Grammys would mention Kanye West’ latest diss of the pop star, who claimed in a new song lyric that he made her famous. “As the first woman to win Album of the Year at the Grammys twice”, she said, “I want to say to all the young women out there: there are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success, or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame”.

Lady Gaga’s David Bowie tribute was her second knockout performance in just over a week, showing her diversity: at the Super Bowl she did a classy and classic (and not controversial!) National Anthem, but she definitely got her freak on to pay tribute to the Thin White Duke.
Some artists use their acceptance speech to send an inspiring message, others burst into tears of gratitude (we’re looking at you, Meghan Trainor), and then there’s Lin-Manuel Miranda, star of the Broadway show Hamilton, who accepted the award for Best Musical Theater Album with a well-written rap.
Taylor Swift is not about to hold up her own dress while she’s walking! The ceremony was filled with tributes to the many legends that have passed away in recent weeks and months. His album To Pimp A Butterfly won the first award presented on the telecast, Best Rap Album, while his song “Alright” won Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song.
Do not miss any looks from the 2016 Grammy award red carpet. She won Monday night’s top prize for her multi-hit, best-selling album “1989”. “She deserves more than (to be a part of) a minute-and-a-half tribute”, Cole’s son Robert Adam Yancy told Entertainment Tonight.
“1989” enjoyed the biggest debut in the United States in more than a decade when it came out in 2014, although her sales feat was topped a year later by British ballad singer Adele, who followed Swift in boycotting streaming, although less vocally.
Alabama Shakes won three awards and plenty of respect. “We wouldn’t be up here if it wasn’t for the people dancing to this song”. Backed by Jack Antonoff on guitar, Swift sounded triumphant as she walked through the audience while glitter rained down inside the Staples Center.
The Weeknd, who was nominated for seven awards, won a pair of them: R&B performance for “Earned It (Fifty Shades of Grey)” and urban contemporary album for “Beauty Behind the Madness”.
The Grammy Awards are music’s biggest night, full of jaw-dropping performances, touching tributes – and lots of politics.
