Pathankot Aftermath: Pakistan to Seek India’s Permission for SIT Visit
Sharif had said his government wanted to send a team of special investigators to the Pathankot airbase in India for further investigations and to probe any possible involvement of Pakistan-based individuals.

Foreign secretary level talks between Pakistan and India are not conditional to Punjab’s Pathankot airbase attack probe, Indian High Commissioner Gautam Bambawaly said on Monday.
“I can not give any particular date for the secretary level talks, but foreign secretaries from both countries are in constant contact”, he was quoted in the report as saying.
The remark by the envoy comes even as India’s top political leadership remains convinced that Pakistan has not done enough in Pathankot investigations for New Delhi to go ahead with the FS level talks.
Gautam ruled out Indian interference in the affairs of Pakistan and Afghanistan, terming both the countries as independent and sovereign states.
After India claimed that Pakistan-based outfit Jaish-e-Muhammed (JeM) was behind the attack, Islamabad immediately formed an investigation team comprising officials from civil and military intelligence agencies to ascertain the claim.

It should be noted that Pakistan and India agreed to resume the dialogue process following Nawaz-Modi meeting in France. Sources said that Pakistan had, for the first time, accepted that the terrorists who carried out the attack on the Pathankot airbase were from its soil, as indicated by its statements that it would examine the evidence given to it by India. Indian security personnel also killed six militants in the January 2 attack on the airbase, which is merely 50 km from Pakistani border.
