Earlier on Friday, a judge in Tarrant County, Texas, issued an order of protection, which states that the Cleveland Browns quarterback must stay away from Crowley for two years. The statement listed the Cleveland Browns quarterback as the suspect and said detectives would investigate and determine whether criminal charges were warranted. “The preliminary investigation determined that a possible assault had occurred in that jurisdiction or multiple jurisdictions”, the Fort Worth police said in a statement.

“As there are many emotional factors involved, it is not uncommon for a victim of domestic violence to question or delay reporting an assault”, police said.
“This is an ongoing investigation and updates will be made as information becomes available”, the statement said. The Associated Press left messages seeking comment for Manziel, his parents and a lawyer who represented the player when he was at Texas A&M.
Dallas police are looking into a January 30 incident that allegedly started at a local hotel and continued at Crowley’s apartment. In addition, Paul Manziel, Johnny’s father, expressed publicly that his 23-year-old son needs professional help and might not “live to see his 24th birthday”. Fort Worth police released a report Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016 that provided the first details of the altercation Saturday night between Manziel and Colleen Crowley.

A protective order was also signed to prevent Manziel from seeing Crowley for the next two years.
“I am hopeful that everyone will understandably respect my wish for privacy at this time”, Crowley added. She tells police she had gotten into an argument with Manziel after the pair went out with friends the previous evening (the 29th) in Dallas.

Manziel was dropped by his agent, Erik Burkhardt, on Friday. The Browns don’t release Manziel immediately because they don’t have the salary cap space to do so.

After that incident, league chose not to suspend Manziel, even though according to its own policy it has tremendous flexibility when it comes to personal conduct violations.
