Cincinnati Police Lt. Colonel James Whalen, who is leading the investigation, said Monday that Dubose did not have a weapon on him or in his vehicle.

Dubose was missing a license plate on the front of his auto, according to police officials, university police chief Jason Goodrich told the Guardian. After about a mile, Dubose pulled over.
When Dubose stopped the auto Rice near Valencia, officer Tensing asked for license and registration, police said.
A University of Cincinnati cop killed an unarmed man during a traffic stop. “There was a struggle at the door with Mr. Dubose in the vehicle and the officer outside the vehicle and the vehicle sped away”.
Mr Tensing, who has been placed on paid administrative leave, fired a single shot, hitting the driver in the head. Dubose was pronounced dead at the scene, Goodrich said.
Authorities said there is a video of the shooting that has not been released to the public. Deters said the review of the shooting should be completed by next week. He bruised his legs and tore his uniform during the incident. Tensing was wearing a body camera during the encounter, but no dashboard camera footage is available.
Tensing had been working for the university since April 2014 and previously had approximately 5 years experience with law enforcement, according to Goodrich.
“This incident didn’t involve a Cincinnati Police Department officer, but it happened in our city, and it is our job to ensure this investigation is handled with the attention it deserves”, City Manager Harry Black said Tuesday. His family was awarded a $2 million settlement, and campus police agreed to suspend the use of Tasers. Protests emerged last August after the shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown by police, in Ferguson, Mo. The officer fell to the ground as he fired the fatal shot.
University of Cincinnati students joined Dubose’s family at a campus protest Tuesday to demand answers. “I would love for the police officer that did this to let me know how could he put a gun to a human being’s head, any human being, not just my son”.
But “Black Lives Matter Cincinnati” is calling for more action.
WXIX reported that Dubose has a criminal record in Hamilton County, mostly for misdemeanor drug crimes and traffic offenses, court records show. A number listed for Audrey Dubose in Cincinnati was disconnected. The network adds that he’s also faced charges for “assault and burglary, but those charges were later dropped”.
In January, his license was suspended indefinitely after multiple arrests for driving without a license, the Enquirer reported.

“He was coming home that night and we had a projector so we were going to watch a movie on it but we didn’t get to do that… because he died.”
