The French worldwide was in fine form once again as his side earned a vital away victory at the Etihad but he will miss their Europa League tie with Fiorentina on Thursday night.

It would also free up Pochettino to select more of his starters for the FA Cup match versus Crystal Palace.

Goalkeeper: Hugo Lloris has been ruled out of the game after picking up a shoulder injury against Manchester City on Sunday. Fiorentina finished second in their group for FC Basel but don’t let that underplay how big of a threat they are.

Then, they were just three days from a Capital One Cup final clash with Chelsea, but this time around Pochettino insists he will maintain his stance on wanting to win in Europe.

Alderweireld is now having a dream experience at White Hart Lane with Spurs in prime position to win their first league title since 1961.

“We feel if we work very hard, with everyone doing their job, we can beat any team”, he said.

Harry Redknapp believes that his former club Tottenham have a fantastic opportunity of winning the Europa League this season, with the Premier League and FA Cup also a distinct possibility. He has forged the right balance between defence and attack, made good players like Eric Dier and Danny Rose better, backed young Alli and created a platform for Kane.

“My attitude was to try and win the game (last year) and tomorrow it is the same”.

As important as keeping the emerging, youthful squad together is retaining Pochettino, the 43-year-old Argentine who joined from Southampton in 2014.

“It will certainly be a match at a high level, physically and tactically”, Sousa added.
