If the Minnesota Wild are going to make a deep postseason run this year, they’ll do so without former head coach Mike Yeo, who was relieved of his duties after an eighth-consecutive loss.

The Minnesota Wild hockey team fired head coach Mike Yeo on Saturday.
“I’m a realist”, he said after the game, adding that a team “can’t lose every game and expect that there’s not going to be a change”.

As of Saturday night, no word has been given on whether Yeo’s staff is safe or not. C Mikko Koivu leads the Wild with six points vs. the Canucks this season. And they drew a penalty and had a good shift in the offensive zone.
Torchetti has served as Minnesota’s head coach of their AHL affiliate, Iowa Wild. The 32-year-old Vanek carries a $6.5 million cap hit and scored just 21 goals last year. And 43 days have passed since they won a game on home ice.
“John’s message is that we have to start competing a lot harder and having a little more fun”, Parise said following the morning skate. Minnesota reached the playoffs the past three seasons after a five-year absence.

He coached 12 current members of the Wild between his run the past two seasons in Iowa and his first stint with the organization as coach of Minnesota’s then-AHL affiliate, the Houston Aeros, from 2011-13.
