Spurs asst. GM Sean Marks turns down Nets GM job
However, when asked if he had a message for the New York Knicks – the Nets’ cross-town rival – Prokhorov gave a similar answer, saying he had “never heard about this team”, so his words could be taken with a grain of salt.

At the time, Prokhorov made it clear he wasn’t pleased with the performance of his personnel department. As the NBA’s annual trade deadline arrives Thursday, the team, though very much in need of roster improvements, is without a general manager.
They traded away their 1st round draft picks in 2016 and 2018 to the Boston Celtics.
Team owner Mikhail Prokhorov was on hand to unveil the renovated warehouse near Brooklyn’s Sunset Park neighborhood, which encompasses 70,000 square feet and houses two basketball courts, a rooftop lounge with a view of Manhattan, an on-site barber chair, and all the high-tech accouterment needed to aid and preserve the 14-40 Nets.
How would that work exactly?
The final three candidates are former Raptors and Suns GM Bryan Colangelo, Nuggets assistant GM Arturas Karnisovas and Spurs assistant GM Sean Marks.
Marks played 12 years in the National Basketball Association. Going overseas, however, will be a hard task, especially after the Nets could not bring in Marks, who has a great track record of finding European talent with the Spurs.
Marks is the Spurs’ assistant GM to the highly regarded R.C. Buford and is well-liked throughout the league in his own right after an 11-season career as a player before moving into management.
Prokhorov is in town this week for Wednesday’s unveiling of the Nets’ new practice facility in Industry City, Brooklyn.

For Nets fans, the hope is that this gets wrapped up before Marks starts having second thoughts and decides that Texas and titles make for a better life than Brooklyn and a bleak immediate basketball future. The bet among experts was that he didn’t want the GM talk to overshadow his estimated $50 million baby.
