Other slogans like “Freedom from RSS, freedom from Modi government”, “Jab Kashmir ne maangi azadi, Manipur bhi boli azadi” were also heard.

“These are some fringe elements”.
“On February 9, around 5 pm, DSU students under the leadership of Umar Khalid, convener, DSU, gathered at Sabarmati Dhaba”. “Such slogans were certainly not on our agenda”, Mukhopadhyay said.
Bassi also made it clear that neither the Special Cell nor the National Investigating Agency (NIA) have been asked to probe the links between the JNU students and terrorist Afzal Guru.
Meanwhile, a number of Left student unions brought out a rally demanding release of Kanhaiya Kumar in solidarity with the students in JNU.
In a counter demonstrations, government supporters staged a noisy protest outside the gates of the university that is known for its tradition of left-wing student politics.
