Mourinho mocks Martinez comments

Jose Mourinho’s latest tactic to lure John Stones from Everton to Chelsea is to mock and belittle Everton.

They claim they wrote to the west Londoners to make this clear and are disappointed with them because the clubs have had a warm relationship, dating back to Romelu Lukaku’s loan move two years ago which became a permanent deal last summr.

Stones has been linked with a move to Chelsea all summer and has been heavily tipped to replace club captain John Terry in the long run.

‘I spoke to coach Klinsmann and we have had open lines of communication as recently as last week.

Mourinho said: ‘At the moment they say: “We don’t accept this bid”.

Lescott was just entering the peak of his career at the age of 27 and fetched a transfer fee of £24 million, with Everton taking a hard stance. “John Stones is an Everton player, full stop”.

Speaking after his team were beaten 3-1 by Arsenal in the Barclays Asia Trophy final at Singapore’s National Stadium, Martinez appeared to be clearly unhappy with Chelsea’s open pursuit of Stones.

The Colombian wide player joined the Blues in the January transfer window but has failed to nail down a starting place in Mourinho’s talent-laden midfield.

Earlier this week, Stones revealed to The Straits Times his intentions to stay and build a cohesive defensive partnership with fellow centre-back Phil Jagielka.

“And clearly I would say “no, you don’t go here”, or ‘yes, OK, you go here, but I want to negotiate with that club”.

Ferdinand arguably proved to be a bargain, enjoying unprecedented success as United won titles, cups and the Champions League.

“That is not the way we would do it at Everton, we would not speak of a player who is registered at another club and there is no issue from our point of view – John Stones is an Everton player”. Stones is now on a weekly wage of £30,000 at Everton, and has four years left on his contract. “We wouldn’t speak about a player at another club”.

Stones himself is believed to be eager to discuss terms with the Londoners, with a potential switch likely to give him a better chance of cementing a spot in Roy Hodgson’s England squad and a the opportunity to play in the Champions League.
