A Florida couple claimed their share of last month’s record $1.6 billion U.S. Powerball lottery jackpot on Wednesday, coming forward with the second of the three winning tickets.

One jackpot-winning Pennsylvania Lottery Cash 5 ticket worth $1 million from the Monday, February 15, drawing was sold at Sunoco, 800 Water St., Scottdale, Westmoreland County. The Nickel 95 Trust trustees are David Kaltschmidt, 55, and Maureen Smith, 70, of Melbourne Beach. Although they have managed to keep their identities top secret since January 13, the winning ticket holders from Melbourne Beach, Florida are revealing themselves to the world.

John and Lisa Robinson of Munford, Tennessee, have claimed their prize, but no victor has come forward for a ticket sold in Chino Hills, California. The other winning tickets were purchased in Tennessee and California. They too opted for the lump sum payout.

Smith said they won with the same numbers they’d been playing for years.

As for their first splurges with the winnings, Smith said a new auto and a massage are in the cards. The Melbourne Beach couple has played the winning numbers for about 30 years, but not regularly.

The couple has been together since 1980.

“We didn’t believe it”, said Kaltschmidt. It wasn’t until the next morning they realized they had the winning numbers.

“Of course we’re going to take care of the family and we have a lot to think about”, she said.

“I bought a ticket right there at the same place”, he said.

The Florida winner’s share of the jackpot comes to $528.6 million, the lotto says. By Feb. 17, the prize had not been claimed. “I looked online to make sure they were correct”.

I guess they’re anxious people are going to either rob them or ask them for money, and you can find stories supporting that in the archives of past lottery winners.
