Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny sparks exit rumours

Szczesny is nearly certain to be behind Cech in the Arsenal pecking order and is resigned to being on the bench next season.

The Poland worldwide has been on the fringes of the Arsenal first-team after being caught smoking in the Southampton showers on New Year’s Day.

Roma’s current number one Morgan De Sanctis is retiring next summer, and Szczesny could be a long-term replacement for the veteran, the report claims.

Szczesny, who has made 181 appearances for Arsenal, helped the North London club to win the FA Cup in May.

And the 25-year-old could be surplus to requirements at the Emirates following the arrival of Petr Cech.

Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini is in the final stages of securing Szczesny, according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Telegraph have confirmed the Gunners have received an offer of a season-long loan deal for the shot-stopper from Roma. But Roma are also eager to have an option to make this move permanent, although Arsenal are not too keen on that as Wenger believes Szczesny could still have a future at the club.
