Both candidates are positioned to do well in SC but both need to finish strong to keep their presidential hopes alive.

The beginning of the press conference was akin to a trial argument from Cruz, trying to expose Trump’s liberal record, and the Texas senator also had a poster of donations the real estate mogul had made in the past to top congressional Democrats, particularly pointing out his donations in 2006, the year Democrats recaptured control of Congress.
Ahead of the crucial South CarolinaUS presidential primary, Republican frontrunner Donald Trump maintained a commanding lead over his nearest rival Ted Cruz, two new polls showed today. You have to wonder what would have happened if, rather than sucking up to him for months, he would have needled and skewered him with lines like: “Don’t tell me you’re pro-life”.
Cruz basically unloaded on the Trump and Rubio campaigns, saying both cry “liar” when he exposes their records. About one-third say they would enthusiastically back Cruz (32%, down from 37% in January), and 31% say so about Rubio, about the same as in January. “He lied about Ben Carson in Iowa”, said Rubio.
“I will have Democrat votes, I will have independent votes, I will do tremendously with crossover”, Trump said.
Trump fires back, repeatedly questioning Cruz’s honesty, adherence to Christian values and even his mental state.
Cruz said the ad uses Trump’s own words.
Over the last week, Trump and Cruz have increasingly traded blows on the campaign trail.
The latest survey was conducted by Republican pollster Bill McInturff and Democratic pollster Peter Hart after Saturday’s GOP debate in SC. While the former MA governor won the GOP nomination, he lost the S.C. primary to former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich, breaking the state’s three-decade streak of voting for the candidate who landed on the November ballot. “She’s a great person”, Bush said.
‘Lindsey Graham [is] one of the dumbest human beings I’ve ever seen, ‘ Trump said during his Wednesday morning stop in the Sun City community near Hilton Head Island.
“But if Donald Trump files the lawsuit that he threatens, that lawsuit will be frivolous”, Cruz said.
Rubio, who preceded Cruz, spoke in poignant personal terms about race and growing up as a Cuban-American. Cruz and legal experts have said he is eligible because his mother was a United States citizen at the time of his birth.
“I am pro-life and I do not support taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood as long as they are performing abortions”, Trump said in a statement. Marco Rubio was in Aiken Tuesday.

Frankly, having grown up in Greenville and knowing Bob Jones University very well, I was surprised how much support there was amongst students for Rubio compared to Cruz.
