Second Historic Powerball Jackpot Winners to Come Forward Today

On Wednesday, lottery officials identified the Central Florida winners as David Kaltschmidt and Maureen Smith.
“We didn’t believe it. We kept watching TV and going online”, Smith told reporters.
The California victor has yet to come forward. “I thought, she’s messing with me”, he said.
The winners had one of the winning tickets in the January 13 drawing.
News 6 spoke to the Powerball jackpot winners’ neighbors.

A Florida couple claimed their share of last month’s record $1.6 billion U.S. Powerball lottery jackpot on Wednesday, coming forward with the second of the three winning tickets.
The couple has chose to take the lump sum option of $327 million before taxes, according to Tallahassee.com. “I lost over 10 pounds, too-it’s a lot of pacing at night”, Kaltschmidt said.
Since joining Powerball in 1999, Florida has had the most winners with 11.
“In all seriousness, that’s awesome, I’m happy for them”, he added.
Last month’s jackpot sparked a frenzy among people hoping to be one of the lucky winners for the historic $1.58 billion Powerball. “I just know that I want to help special people”.
The ticket was purchased at a Publix supermarket in Melbourne Beach. Winning tickets were purchased in Florida, Tennessee and California.

The couple spoke at a news conference held at Florida Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee.
