The State newspaper reported Wednesday that Haley, the state’s popular, two-term governor, will endorse Rubio at a rally in Chapin on Wednesday evening.

Gov. Nikki Haley joined other state and nonprofit officials Tuesday to announce the state’s collaboration with nonprofits to expand the number of families helped through the Nurse-Family Partnership.
She said just Tuesday that, despite the “nonstop” phone calls seeking her backing, she was still trying to decide and may not endorse this cycle. While the former MA governor won the GOP nomination, he lost the S.C. primary to former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich, breaking the state’s three-decade streak of voting for the candidate who landed on the November ballot. Marco Rubio, R-Fla. Tim Scott and Rep. Trey Gowdy – on the Rubio campaign. Her endorsement is the most critical prize of all, as she is both the elected leader of the Republican Party in the state and an emerging star on the national stage.
Haley is the South Carolina-born daughter of Indian immigrants and, at 44, the nation’s youngest governor.
Haley is the third prominent South Carolina Republican to back Rubio.
It involves pairing registered nurses with first-time mothers on Medicaid.
Haley communicates regularly with both.
With the GOP primary just days away here in South Carolina, NBC News anchor Craig Melvin isn’t so sure an endorsement is coming from Gov. Haley. Haley is considered to be a favourite vice presidential pick.
The State reports that Haley had been considering endorsing Jeb Bush, but chose Rubio in part because his polling numbers indicate he has a better chance for a strong performance in the Palmetto State. He’s trailed by Cruz with 22%, Rubio with 14%, Bush with 10%, Ben Carson at 6% and Ohio Gov. John Kasich at 4%.

Rubio’s campaign has made a concerted effort to keep the issue in front of voters, playing on Cruz’s “TrusTED” slogan with puns like “BusTED” and “CalculaTED”.
