Why did Johnny Depp performed at the Grammys?

As Dave Grohl stated during the Grammy tribute to Kilmister, Lemmy WAS rock “n” roll.

The band was introduced by Foo Fighters frontman David Grohl during the awards show after the singer dedicated much of his speech to Kilmister. Balls of fire mushroomed in the background. “That they will let us be on the show and play one of our songs no one has never heard”.

Instead, the band played the boisterous, bluesy “As Bad As I Am”, an outtake from its self-titled album, which came out last September.

Johnny Depp, Alice Cooper and Joe Perry of the Hollywood Vampires performed Motorhead’s “Ace of Spades” at the star-studded ceremony, while the late rock star’s face was projected onto a video screen behind them. Cooper donned his usual black eye makeup and walked the stage with a “blood-stained” shirt, leather trousers and a whip.

There was no reason for this performance to go on as long as it did – even if the sequence was one of the night’s more spirited.

Hours after making their television debut at the 2016 Grammy Awards, the Hollywood Vampires have announced their first US concert of the year – in Upstate New York.

So Depp channeled his guitar skills into playing with other well-known musicians. The now-sober Cooper filled Depp in about his Hollywood Vampires club, a group of rockers including Keith Moon and John Lennon who partied at Los Angeles’ Rainbow Room starting in the 1970s. Depp added, “The lyrics, they have a way of touching kids and making people think…they’re both fun…I get it”.

Perry’s first appearance was with the Hollywood Vampires, his ultra-crusty supergroup with Johnny Depp and Alice Cooper.
