Formally known as the Lunar New Year but also known as the Spring Festival, it is considered one of the most important holidays of the year in China and in ethnic Chinese communities overseas.

Salutations: Many Chinese speakers greet each other during the New Year with the popular phrase “Kung Hei Fat Choi” in Cantonese, and “Gong Xi Fa Cai” in Mandarin.
