For Meen, the winning dog “takes me back into the past of what they were bred to do”.

“He has that extra sparkle”, his handler, Valerie Nunes-Atkinson said.

“Obedience competition first became an AKC sport in the mid-1930s, but this marks Westminster’s first venture into this popular canine activity”, the Westminster Kennel Club said in a news release. This is what we strive for, what we shed tears over.

Five-year-old Skye terrier Charlie, who finished second last year, will settle into retirement.

“He was born this way”.

“The ideal day for the flawless name”, Heart’s owner and trainer Linda Brennan said.

“It’s exactly like what I imagined”, she added, via ABC.

In the end, C.J. earned his win at Westminster 2016 simply because he epitomized his breed. It’s also his 18th Best in Show overall.

CJ, also known as California Journey, is a descendent of two other champions and the third German Shorthaired Pointer to win the competition.

Priscilla Marsh, Diane Travis, Flo Laicher, and Karen Justin, along with their big fluffy Great Pyrenees companions Splash and Woody, made themselves available to educate dog lovers on the breed they love.

The company is doing something right: C.J.is the 10th victor in a row to eat some version of their Pro Plan®.

Though it may have appeared initially that Ozeki’s decision to show Lucy within the family for their first trip to Westminster could leave Nunes-Atkinson out of the running for the show’s top prize, her handling of CJ proved to be a stroke of luck.

“He oozed that pointer style”. “CJ as a German shorthaired pointer had to have the quality of pointing and being in the field to do that”. The additions include the Bergamasco, the Berger Picard, the Miniature American Shepherd and the Spanish Water Dog, all competing in the Herding Group, the Boerboel, competing in the Working Group, the Cirneco dell’Etna, competing in the Hound Group and the Lagotto Romagnolo, competing in the Sporting Group.
