T2 is 7-9-2 in the USL this season. It also provided a nice lift for young Timbers players who are looking to establish themselves. George Fochive, Peay, Jeanderson and Nanchoff were the players who have seen time in MLS this season.

The signings of Wijnaldum and now Aleksandar Mitrovic are the third and fourth biggest signings in club history, respectively, and the team looks to be taken in a new direction that will please fans and members of the organization with improved success and popularity.

30th minute: GOAL! T2 scores again on a corner kick from Nanchoff.

Rolando Aarons added a mighty speedy brace with goals in less than two minutes, scoring in the 75th and 76th minutes. The Magpies scored 46 total goals and forward Papiss Crisse led the team with 11 goals in 22 games.

13th minute: GOAL! Kharlton Belmar’s goal is blocked but Fatawu Safiu is there for the rebound to get it in.

Beasler made it 4-1 by heading home a Jeanderson cross on a play that started from the back and included with a nice move by Portland’s Rundell Winchester in midfield.

What do you make of Newcastle’s tour of the US this summer? “Our expectations were we were going to get a bit of a lesson and it happened (on the Newcastle goals)”, Vidovich said. With substitute Siem de Jong then forcing a decent save from a free-kick just moments later, for some reason Newcastle had started to play with just 15 minutes left – sparked into life by their exciting young winger. “They’re starting to get some personality”.

The defender endured a disappointing campaign by his own high standards last season as Newcastle narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League, but he has remained on the radar of his former boss Alan Pardew, who handed him the captain’s armband during his time in charge of Newcastle. He said 10-day trips like this one are always hard, but can be valuable.

Unfortunately, it was all a case of “too little, too late”, with the mortal damage done in the first-half.
