Using the port as an example, Biden called the stimulus funds an essential trigger that allowed the US economy to recover from recession. The program provided more than $830 billion in spending on a variety of programs, including infrastructure, tax credits and the expansion of unemployment benefits and other projects.

Jussi Suhonen, Sales Director of Port Cranes at Konecranes, said: “We’re proud to be an important supplier to this intermodal terminal of Port of New Orleans”.

In Louisiana, Biden said the stimulus devoted $433 million to highway construction, $33 million to transit projects, $19 million for airports and $7 million for maritime construction. Just east of Memphis in Rossville, the facility features lifts and heavy vehicles that load and unload shipping containers onto and off semitrailers and trains. It reopened in 2012 after being closed for more than four decades.

“The federal government will do everything it possibly can - through funding, targeted incentives and increased private-sector coordination - to support research and enable progress”, Biden said in a Medium post in January.
