With the song also one of the top five singles bought on the download service iTunes, it looks set to rise still higher before the official U.K. Top 40 is announced on Friday (19Feb16).

Viola Beach’s lineup consisted of guitarist and vocalist Kristian Leonard, 20; guitarist River Reeves, 19; bass player Tomas Lowe, 27, and drummer Jack Dakin, 19.

Further details have emerged concerning the tragic deaths last weekend of United Kingdom indie band Viola Beach and their manager, after their auto passed through a bridge barrier and plunged into a canal outside Stockholm, Sweden.

However none of Viola Beach’s tracks featured in the top 50 in the country’s main music chart.

River’s grandmother, Tressa Reeves, said: “There has been such an outpouring of love for River and his friends it has been awesome – they’ve reached around the world and we have been really touched by the messages of support we have received.

Nice one Liam!” The group’s single “Swings & Waterslides” is now placed at number four in the iTunes charts, according to the online store’s ongoing rankings. “Let’s get them to number one”.

Their families and fans first launched the campaign to get them to the top spot in the United Kingdom singles chart before it was picked up by celebrities on social media.
