After New Hampshire flop, Christie drops out of race
The Florida senator went on to jab Trump, as well.

At midday Wednesday, Sanders’ campaign said he’d raised $5.2 million since the polls closed Tuesday night.
Bernie Sanders scored a sweeping double digit victory over Hillary Clinton.
Chris Christie announced the suspension of his presidential campaign on Wednesday. “They didn’t even wrap it up until June…” “The only thing he does know – and he’s right about – is that we’re being ripped off, and he says that constantly”.
Nevada holds its caucus Feb. 20, followed by a primary in South Carolina Feb. 27. He angered many Republicans by publicly embracing President Obama during a disaster tour days before the election.
After his disappointing fifth-place finish in Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary, Rubio faces intense competition to win over S.C. Republican voters looking for an option to GOP front-runners Donald Trump of NY and U.S. Sen.
He opened up about his challenges with reporters over a late breakfast in an Okatie Cracker Barrel restaurant with his wife and children.
However, Christie’s debate ambush of Rubio did not ultimately seem to help him at the New Hampshire polls, and also triggered blowback from some conservatives.
At the same time, his aides took their game of doling out political favors and punishments too far, leading to one of the most dumbfounding political scandals in recent memory, in which aides purposely created traffic jams in the town of Fort Lee to punish the mayor, who chose not to endorse Christie’s re-election. Rubio trailed Bush by less than a percentage point. “We were just there, and we had 12,000 people in a wonderful, wonderful arena”, he told CNN’s Jake Tapper.
“I served on the defense committee for 18 years”, Kasich said.
The candidate continued to downplay his huge loss in New Hampshire, stating that he made a decision not to focus the campaign on the state like other candidates. Rubio is member of the Republican Party. “I would be surprised if it’s not May or the convention”.
It’s by no means assured that Rubio’s candidacy will survive that long.
Trump’s remaining opponents, a lot of them mainstream Republicans, will likely benefit from their departures, which leaves seven Republicans from a field that once had 17 candidates.
As the primary contest shifts to South Carolina, Rubio wants voters to know he’s learned an important lesson from his experience in New Hampshire. Christie said the controversy over the closing of lanes on the George Washington Bridge, allegedly as retaliation against a political rival, was a non-story.
“I like Chris Christie very much and I respect him”, Rubio said.
“Donald Trump has zero foreign policy experience – negotiating a hotel deal in another country is not foreign policy experience”, he charged, adding similar jabs at former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Texas Sen.

Despite Trump winning with 35 percent of the vote in New Hampshire, both Mayfield and Jordan dismissed the real estate tycoon as the candidate who will capture the Republican presidential nomination.
