Jimmer Fredette: Expected to sign with Knicks
Fredette, who is now under contract with the D-League’s Westchester Knicks, will sign a contract with the New York Knicks that is most likely to start next week, according to multiple reports.

It’s not yet known if it’s a 10-day contract or a full-season deal for the former BYU sharpshooter. The signing was first reported by Ian Begley of ESPN.com. Fredette had been playing fo the Westchester Knicks in the NBA Development League, where he averaged 22.3 points, 4.8 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game. He was named MVP of the D-League All-Star Game last Saturday when he scored 35 points.
“I feel I’ve definitely proven I can still play and provide something for a team out there”, Fredette told the New York Post earlier this week. He was waived by the Spurs in training camp, signing back with New Orleans for 10 days in November before being waived again.

However, Fredette has certainly proven in lower levels he can fill up a stat sheet, so if the Knicks give him a real opportunity to get some playing time in his home state, perhaps he still has a chance to salvage his National Basketball Association career. The call-up is curious with the Knicks searching for defense and athleticism at the guard spot. The Knicks are looking for answers under interim head coach Kurt Rambis, who takes over for the recently fired Derek Fisher. “Whether they play or not, we’re just bringing guys in to get a better look at”.
