Human remains have been found in a auto missing for 43 years in North Carolina.

“The green Catalina, filled with mud with the roof caved in, matched the auto belonging to Shook on February 19, 1972, when he was reported missing, Caldwell County Sheriff’s Capt. B.J”. The remains are being sent to a medical examiner for an autopsy and identification. They used sonar technology and found Shook’s 1968 Pontiac Catalina 30 feet underwater, with what are believed to be his remains inside. The North Catawba Fire and Rescue dive team helped recover the vehicle.
“It put some closure on something they’ve been looking forward to for a long time”, said Caldwell County Sheriff Alan Jones.
An updated report from Associated Post revealed that the human remains are believed to be those of Amos Shook, a retired Air Force veteran who was reported missing 43 years ago.
“There’s nothing that indicates that”, Jones said. Reportedly, investigators reopened the cold case into the man’s disappearance after Shook’s daughter went to detectives last month and requested that they take a closer look.
Officials say there are no signs of foul play at this point in their investigation. “We were able to identify what we believed to be a auto at the bottom”.
Fore said all its windows were closed and intact.

The investigators searched Lake Rhodhiss without any specific tip. Fore said he didn’t know why the search focused on the lake.
